Mrs. Elizabeth Grouwinkel, beloved wife of Mr. John Grouwinkel, died January 2, 1898, of paralysis of the brain, aged 74 years, 9 months and 24 days. Deceased was born March 20, 1823, in Gruendelharat, Grailsheim Wurtenberg. She was first united in marriage to Mr. Oesterreichs, of which union five children were born, four of whom are dead. She was again married to Mr. Henry Grouwinkel and they lived together happily for thirty-five years. From this union one son was born, Henry, of this city.

The deceased became a member of the German M. E. church early in life and has always lived a consistent christian life. She was a very kind woman and did many little works of charity during her life. She was a loving wife and mother and will greatly missed. The funeral services were held at the Long Creek German M. E. church, Tuesday forenoon, at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Zimmerman. Interment in the Wapello cemetery.
