After a lingering illness, Mrs. Louisa Jenkins Barr, wife of James D. Barr, passed over the dark river of death Monday, August 23. She had been failing gradually and although her death was expected yet the family was shocked when the end came. Deceased was born near Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Jan 6th,1839, making her age at the time of her death, 58 years, 7 months, and 17 days. She came to Wapello in the early spring of 18? and was united in marriage to James D. Barr by Dr. W. Salter of Burlington, August 31, 1857. Six children were born to them, five of who survive, one dying in infancy. The funeral services were held at the home yesterday at 2 p. m. conducted by Rev. T. S. Pool.
