Mr. Henry Clarkson, for many years a highly respected citizen of this vicinity, died at Columbus, Ohio, March 3, 1897. The remains arrived at Wapello on Saturday night and the funeral was held at the Methodist church last Sunday morning.

He was born in Duchess county, New York, January 1, 1814. In 1834 he was married to Miss Amy Cornell, and was the father of eight children, two of whom only remain. Mrs. Israel Peters, living three miles south of Wapello and a son who accompanied the remains to Wapello. He was an ardent professor of the Christian religion and was for many years a member of the M. E. church.
