Enoch Hayden, one of the oldest residence of Louisa county, passed away at the family residence in Wapello at two o'clock Tuesday morning, February 9, 1897. He was a native of Ohio, born in Hamilton county Sept 10, 1806, being 90 yeas, 4 months and 29 days old. He was married twice. His first marriage was with Miss Elizabeth Shuch, occurring May 20, 1837. Mrs. Hayden died Oct. 10, 1843. His second marriage occurred Nov. 1, 1853, with Margaret Lancaster, who survives him.

Mr. Hayden emigrated to Iowa in 1843, making his home at Burlington. In 1866 he came to Louisa county, where he continued to live until his death. Of his seven sons five are living. Three of his sons served in the Union army during the civil war. Mr. Hayden was a brother of Rev. John Hayden, late of the Iowa conference of the M. E. church. The funeral services occurred yesterday after noon at 2 o'clock at the house. Rev. Pool officiating.
