Mrs. Margaret (Beauchamp) Jackson, a resident of Elm Grove Township departed this life, Oct. 1 1894. She was born in Picaway County, Ohio, May 20, 1827, with her parents, she came to Iowa in 1852, and on the 13th day of November, 1853 was united in marriage to Elias G. Jackson. After their marriage she and her husband settled on Sec. 32, Elm Grove tp., and she has lived there continuously over forty years. By their union six children were born: Magdalene, who became the wife of Will Hewett, now dead, Margaret F., wife of W. I. Huston, Albert, Oletha Sickafoos, Martha Spangler and Fred. All of her children were at her beside during her last illness. In 1864 she became a member of the Christian church and has ever since been one of its most faithful members.

The departed one had hosts of friends. No one ever entered her home that was not a recipient of her hospitality and when her friends came to visit her, she spared nothing for them and her best efforts were put forth to make them happy. She was of an exceeding pious disposition and at no time made complaint of the trials of life, and when she came to die it was not with fear and trembling but with that hope which is portrayed to the Christian, "All is well" The funeral was conducted by Rev. Barger of Crawfordsville and the remains were interred at the Beauchamp cemetery, followed to the grave by one of the largest concourses of friends and neighbors that has been seen in that part of the county for years.
