Mrs. Drexea Semple wife of James Semple, died at her home in this city last Monday, July 30th, 1894, aged 68 years, 5 months, and 20 days. She was born in Butler county, Ohio and was one of a family of 12 children, only two of whom survive her, a sister, Mrs. Jesse Graham, of this city a brother, George Huls a resident of California. She was married to James Semple at her home in Ohio in 1846 and now the aged husband is left to tread the pathway of life alone. Soon after their marriage they came to Iowa, locating in Louisa county, where they had resided ever since.

In 1852 she united with the Presbyterian church at Morning Sun. In 1857 she became one of the charter members of the Presbyterian church in Wapello, in which she has zealously worked ever since. The complication of disorders which resulted in her death, had been gradually under mining her health for years and for a year past her friends had been noting with anxiety her decline.

The funeral occured from the Presbyterian church Wednesday p. m. conducted by Rev. J. B. Condit, assisted by Revs. Knehans and Willits. The services were simple and impressive and attended by a large concourse of friends including a number from Morning Sun. The remains were laid to rest in the Wapello cemetery.
