Edward Alfred Merrick was born Jany. 1st, 1850 at Merrickville, Canada and died at his home in Iowa falls, May 9th, 1892. He had been a sufferer from Bright's disease for a considerable time, but was confined to his bed only ten days. He came to the state about 20 years ago and on Jany 31, 1877 was married to Miss Ida Wright, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Wright, of this city. For some years after their marriage they resided in Wapello, but to spend more time with his family they moved to Iowa Falls.

Mr. Merrick had little opportunity to become acquainted with the people of his town, his occupation kept him on the road most of the time. He leaves an aged mother and a wife and three children. He was a member of the Episcopal church and some of the secret orders. A funeral service was held at his late home and the remains brought here for interment arriving on the early morning train Tuesday. The funeral occurred from the home of B. F. Wright at 2 'clock, a short service being conducted by Rev. J. H. Condit, when many friends followed the remains to their last resting place.
