Newport- Mrs. Vaughn of this place died Sunday, 8, 1891. She received a paralytic stroke early in the fall from which she remained almost helpless till the time of her death. She was born in the state of New Jersey Feb. 17, 1816, there fore at the time of her death was 74 years, 11 months and 21 days old. She removed with her parents to the state of Ohio in 1824, thence in 1828 to the state of Indiana. She was united in marriage to John B. Vaughn Nov, 3, 1833. They with their family removed to Iowa in 1842. She was the mother of thirteen children 4 of whom survive her. Funeral services were conducted at the residence on Monday by Rev. Goodrich of Wapello and the remains were interred in the McCray cemetery about 3 miles south east of Newport.
