Died at his home in Wapello, Christmas morning at 4 o'clock, Eugene Allison aged 49 years. He had been in failing health for some months and for several weeks had been confined to his bed. He was a member of Co. F. 19th Regiment Iowa Infantry Volunteers in the late war. He had never married but after returning from the service remained at home to support and care for his aged parents, both of whom survive him. His father, John Allison, is in his 83d year, while his mother is in her 75th and both are in full health. They are old settlers coming here from Canada in 1839 and Eugene was born here. Besides the aged parents, there is a brother, who is in the regular army and Mrs. B. F. Wright, a sister. The funeral service was at the house and the remains interred in the Wapello cemetery.
