Page 4Elmer Johnson, the 20 year old son of Joseph Johnson, was drowned in the Zeigler slough in Eliot township, Monday afternoon. Young Johnson and Alva Russel were hunting cattle on horseback and the river being high they rode into the deepest part of the slough. Russell go out, but Johnson, being unable to swim, was drowned. The water in the hole into which they rode was 18 feet deep. At last accounts the body had not been recovered.
