Henry Middaugh, aged 12; his brother, Louis Middaugh, aged 13 and their uncle, George McGraw, aged 36, were drowned in the Iowa river near Oakville, Friday afternoon, at four o'clock. Another brother, George Middaugh, aged 15, could swim and escaped. The four had been wading in the Iowa river for an hour or more then climbed out on the bank and walked a short distance away where they sat down on the edge of the bank watching the water swirl below them. Suddenly the bank gave way and all four were thrown into the deep pool. George, the only one who could swim, tried to rescue them but was unable to do so and hastened away to give the alarm. When the rescuers returned with him, not trace of the bodies was visible. Saturday noon the ...

The Middaugh brothers are survived by their parents Mr and Mrs. John Middaugh of Oakville and one sister, Martha and one brother, George.
