Aaron R. Orris, son of Henry and Phoebe Orris, was born at Harrisonville, in Perry County, Pennsylvania, November 25, 1846 and died at his home in Des Moines, Iowa, Tuesday, September 25th, age 76 years and 10 months. He came west at the early age and grew to manhood in Washington and Louisa counties and on the third of September 1872, he was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Edwards. To this union five children were born, the two older of whom, one son and one daughter having preceded him in death in infancy.

There remains to mourn his death, his wife, one daughter,Mrs. S. L. Updegraff, of Iowa City, Iowa, and two sons, B. G. Orris, of Ottumwa, Iowa and J. D. Orris, of Gary, Indiana and one grandchild, Ina Updegraff. He is also survived by one brother, S. S. Orris, of Columbus City and one sister, Mrs. J. T. Smyle, also of Columbus City. Mr. Orris was a man of sterling qualities, love and admired by all who knew him. Mr. Orris took and active part in religious work and was a splendid Christian, always faithful in his attendance of the Methodist church.

The body was brought to this city Wednesday and taken to the home of his brother, S. S. Orris, at Columbus City, where funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. W. Jamison, with interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
