Morning Sun - Funeral services for Mrs. Harriett Hamilton, 82, who passed away early Thursday morning at her home here after a linger illness were conducted from the home on Sunday afternoon, July 22, at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. W. P. Nicholas. Burial in Elmwood cemetery. The deceased was born September 15, 1840, near Jacksontown, Lincoln county, O. When 11 years old she moved with her parents to Iowa locating on a farm northeast of Morning Sun, where she spent the greater part of her life, moving to town about 16 years ago. She was twice married, first to Joseph H. Joy on May 27, 1860, who passed away in 1865.

In 1872 she was married to Alexander Hamilton, who died in 1886.

The children who survive are: E. H. Joy of Westwood, Calif.; Mrs. R. W. Bailey, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Frank W. Hall, Lexington, Neb.; Mrs. H.J. Cowgill, Bogalusa, La., and Miss Nellie Hamilton who has been her mothers constant companion for many years. She leaves four brothers and one sister, Thomas, Joseph, George and Miss Rachel Harris, all of this vicinity and Newton Harris of Wapello. Eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
