John G. Grimm, a Louisa county contractor, passed away suddenly Sunday morning, July 8th, at his home in Wapello at 11:10 a. m. after an illness of less than twenty-four hours. J. G. Grimm was born near Letts, May 26, 1872 and spent his entire life in this county. He engaged in farming for a number of yeas and then went into the contracting business devoting himself largely to road and drainage work. In 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Laura DeMuth, who with one daughter, Lela survives to mourn his death. He is also survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Gertrude Westerman, of Wapello; one brother, Frank Grimm, of Wapello; two half sisters, Mrs. Dora Clark, of Stratford, Texas and Mrs. Anna Abbott, of Zearing, Iowa and four half brothers, Theo Wilton, of Wapello; Henry Wilton, of Garden City, Kansas; Will Grimm, of Woodward, Iowa; and Fred Grimm, of Muscatine.

Mr. Grimm was a member of the Wapello Masonic lodge, the I. O. O. F, K.of P. and Woodman.

Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. W. P. Ludwig under the auspices of the Masonic lodge. Interment was made in the Indian Creek cemetery.
