Rev. S. B. Houston, favorable known and highly esteemed resident of Columbus City, passed away at 9:30 Sunday Morning, March 18th, followed by brief illness with pneumonia. Rev. Houston was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, August 22, 1846. He came when a mere boy, with his parents to Iowa and live in the vicinity of Washington and Keota many years. A few years ago he moved back to Ohio, but in 1918 he returned to Columbus City where he made his house until his death.

During the civil war he served 19 months with an Iowa regiment and later entered the ministry of the United Presbyterian church. He was a man held in the highest esteem by his family and a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Elnetta Crawford, of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, to whom he was married in January 1886, and two sons, E. C. Houston, of Columbus Junction and S. K. Houston of Newton, Falls, Ohio and one daughter, K. Z. Knox of Wichita, Kansas.

Funeral services were held at the late home in Columbus City at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Patterson, of Morning Sun, after which the body was taken to McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, for interment accompanied by his two sons.
