Hon. Ed. L. McClurken, president and owner of the Exchange bank of Morning Sun and wealthy land owner, died at his home in Morning Sun Wednesday morning of pneumonia. He had been ill about a week. He was native of Morning Sun, having been born there August 20, 1856, and had lived there all his life. His death comes as a great shock to this part of Iowa, since he is well known and generally recognized as a man of sterling character. A staunch republican in politics. Mr. McClurkin was recognized as a party leader of the First congressional district. He served several terms representing Louisa county in the lower house of the Iowa assembly. He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Cassie Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Beck, pioneer Iowans and three sons, Clifford, Oak and Justus, and one daughter, Mrs. June Selzer, all of whom live in the immediate vicinity of Morning Sun. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the U. P. church in Morning Sun.
