Frank J. Edwards, one of the pioneer citizens of this community for many years, died at the home of his son, John Edwards, at Sperry, Iowa, Friday, January 26th following a brief illness. Mr. Edwards was born in Monroe county, Tennessee, near Sweetwater and was aged 76 years, 7 months and 10 days. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1851, coming by boat and landing at what is now Port Louisa. From there they drove overland by ox team to Toddtown, which later became a part of Columbus Junction and which they made their home since. Mr. Edwards was married to Miss Harriet Little and to them seven children were born, three sons, Edward, Harry and Charles and his wife preceding him in death.

He is survived by two sons, John Edwards, of Sperry and Frank Edwards, of Moline and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Kauggman, of Fulton, Illinois and Mrs. Catherine Ross, of Columbus Junction. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and three brothers, James, of this county, Z. L. Edwards of Haskins and M. W. Edwards, of Kansas.

Mr. Edwards was converted and untied with the church and has since held a saving faith in his Redeemer. For many years he followed the trade of a plasterer until age and failing health prevented him from participating in his chosen work. The body was brought to this city Friday evening and taken to the Gilkey & Son funeral home on South Hill. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. W. H. Dillon and interment was made in the Tennessee cemetery.
