Harve Bennett, a veteran of the civil war and a well known resident of this community for many years was found dead about noon, Wednesday by Earl Wilson, in the Russell Wilson barn, northeast of Fredonia. The barn is a big new barn which has not been used much and indications were that Mr. Bennett had been dead several days. He was in Columbus Junction Saturday afternoon and evening and it is supposed that death occurred sometime Sunday as it is stated that he died less than 24 hours after he had shaved which was Saturday afternoon. Money, which it is said to be known that he was carrying, was gone when the body was discovered and some advance the theory that he was dead before he was placed in the barns. Mr. Bennett was about 77 years of age and is survived by two sons, the funeral will be held Friday with interment at Indian Creek.
