Jane L. Welch was born February 27, 1847 in the province of Quebec, Canada. She was united in marriage to John Welch, of Columbus City, Iowa, June 12, 1895 in which place she resided until her death which occurred November 3, 1921 at the age of 74 years. In the early years of her life she gave her heart to God and united with the Presbyterian church. After her marriage she united with the Baptist church in Columbus City of which her husband had been a member for many years. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother, Albert Gilchrist and wife of Oklahoma City also one brother, Robert and sister Eliza, of Bendon, Michigan, also her stepsons, John Welch of Newton, Kansas, Geo. M. Welch of Omaha, Nebr., Sherman Welch, of Washington, Iowa and daughter, Mrs. W. F. Marshall, of Worthing, S. Dakota, who were all present at the funeral. Interment at Columbus City cemetery.
