Page 1William R. Owens, a highly esteemed resident of the Welsh neighborhood, died at his home near Crawfordsville, Wednesday September 14, 1921. Mr. Owens was born November 18, 1875, at Venedocia, Ohio, and came to Iowa with his parents in 1883, spending the remainder of his days locally. October 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Myrtle Pearl Johnston who with four young children, Clarence, Glen, Ina and Harold survive him. He is also survived by his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Owens, of Crawfordsville, one brother, David Owens, of Cotter and a sister, Mrs. E. G. Davis, of Crawfordsville.
Mr. Owens was a man of splendid character, highly honored by a large number of acquaintances. He conducted a general store at Cotter for fourteen or fifteen years and known as an honest and trustworthy man. The funeral service was held from the home Friday and was conducted by Rev. Owen Leneau and Davis. Interment was made in the Cambrian cemetery.
