Mrs. S. C. Allen, of Columbus City, received word Monday morning of the death of her father, J. H. Painter, at Crawfordsville. Rev. Painter was formerly pastor of the Christian church at Columbus City and lived to a ripe old age. He is survived by his wife and four daughters: Mrs. W. A. Davis, of Dunlap, Iowa; Mrs. C. A. Gray, of Excelsior Springs, Kansas; Mrs. Lawrence Williams, of Rochester, Minnesota and Mrs. Mary Allen, of Columbus City. The body was brought to the Columbus City cemetery Wednesday for interment.
