Page 1Mrs. Eliza Vandmark. -- Eliza Jane Hinds was born near Dodgeville, Iowa, December 9, 1845 and died May 20, 1921, at her late home in Columbus City being nearly 76 years of age. February 19, 1869, she was married to Zura Vandemark of Dodgeville. To this union two children were born, both of whom died in infancy. Several years ago (can't read) to the home Albert Shafer a boy then four years of age whom they raised and who survives. They also adopted a daughter, Mabel, the late Mrs. Albert Shofe. Alford, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Shofe, also survives.
About twenty-five years ago Mrs. Vandemark united with the Methodist church at Sperry, transferring her membership to the Columbus City M. E. church a few years ago. In addition to those mentioned above there remains to mourn her death, two nieces, Mrs. Irue Miller, Miss Lillie Miller and one nephew, Harry Miller. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Old Stone church conducted by Rev. B. L. Nay, of Waterloo. Interment was made in the Old Stone church cemetery.
