The ashes of W. P. Kremer, whose body was cremated after his death, at Akron, Ohio, arrived in Wapello Friday morning by parcel post and were interred Friday afternoon in the Wapello cemetery. A brief service was held at 2:30 in charge of the G. A. R.. Mr. Kremer died at his home in Akron, Ohio, February 14. W. P Kremer was born in Luzerne county, Pa., in 1841, and came to Louisa county in 1847, settling on the farm near Oakville. At the outbreak of the rebellion he enlisted in Company I, sixth Iowa infantry, and served thru out the struggle.

He and Edward Thomas were the founders of the Nauvoo (Ill.) Independent, which paper is still in existence. He was twice married, first to Anna Harvey, who died in 1890 and his second marriage was to Annie Corrigan, who, with one child, Wesley E. Kremer survives.
