Benjamin F. Knott a life long resident of Louisa county, died at 9 o'clock Monday evening following an illness of several months, Mr. Knott was born in Louisa county, October 20, 1848. He was married to Miss Emma Bennington, February 23, 1876 and to them four children were born all of whom survive and are as follows: Mrs. Lena McNamer and Elmer Knott of Waukon Junction, Charles Knott, of Muscatine and Mrs. Myrtle Wilcox of Council Bluffs. Mrs. Knott died March 13, 1909 and later Mr. Knott was united in marriage to Mrs. Katherine Sutherland, who survives to mourn his death. Mr. Knott was a kind hearted neighbor and a splendid citizen. He is survived by four brothers, John, of Walla Walla, Wash., Charles of Council Bluffs, E. A. of this county, O. R. of Quinlon, North Dakota and one sister, Mrs. Mary Highsmith of Council Bluffs. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Pleasant Grove Bethel church conducted by Rev. C. L. Wilson, Interment in the Indian Creek cemetery.
