Wm. Arthur, a well known farmer of the Welsh Neighborhood, committed suicide Wednesday forenoon by hanging himself in a shed on his farm a few miles west of this city. He was found at noon when his daughter went to call him to dinner. He had mounted a small box and fastening the rope around his neck and kicked the box away. He had been in Cotter early in the morning and was apparently feeling as well as usual when he came home and no motive cane be given for his act. William Arthur was born on a farm in this county, January 23, 1867. His parents were Hugh and Elizabeth Arthur.

He was married March 5, 1891, to Miss Nellie B. Davis, daughter of J. R. and Jane Florence (Word) Davis. To them were born twelve children, two of whom died in infancy. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Arthur and one sister, Miss Catherine, and three brothers, John, Evan H, and Richard and his wife and the following children: Hugh, a member of the U. S. regular army somewhere in the east, and Clifford, Milo, Florence, Edith, Luther, Ludor, Elizabeth Ann, Richard John and Joseph. Mr. Arthur was a member of the Woodmen and I. O. O F. lodge and took an active interest in the work of these organizations. No funeral announcements have been made.
