Mrs. Louise Willmering, a pioneer resident of Columbus City, died at her home at that place Sunday, April 15, 1917, following an illness of several months. Louise Kottcomp Willmering was born in Leipaic, Germany, July 31, 1840. She came to the United States when six years of age with her parents, Charles and Louise Kottcomp. For two years they made their home at York, Pennsylvania and then moved to Muscatine, Iowa, were they lived until 1851 when they moved to Columbus City which has been her home ever since.

On Christmas day, 1858, she was united in marriage to Herman H. Willmering to which union were born nine children of whom seven are living as follows: Mrs. Dora E. Kottcomp, of York, Penna., Herman H., of Galesburg, Illinois; Edward J., of Peoria, Ill., Harry Lee, of Columbus Junction; Charley E., of Amarillo, Texas; Dr. Louise Harding, of York, Penna. and Beluah B., of Idaho. All of the children except her son Belulah, were with her during her last illness. Eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Nissen, of Columbus City, also survive to mourn her death.

Pall bearers were her four eldest sons and two nephews Lewis and Ben Cutkomp. A brief funeral service was held at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with a public service at 2:30 at the United Brethern church conducted by Rev. R. J. Alllred. Interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
