Mrs. Ellen Snyder, a well known resident of Louisa county for many years, died at 5:30 Sunday evening at the home of her son, Fred Snyder, at Muscatine, following a very brief illness. Mrs. Snyder has made her home at the Soldiers Home at Marshalltown for the past five or six years but about four weeks ago on account of failing health she went to the home of her son, Fred, at Muscatine. She was apparently feeling as well as usual Sunday afternoon but about 4:30 she suffered a paralytic stroke and died within the hour.

Ellen Reeder was the daughter of Rev. and Micajah Reeder and was born at Fredonia, July 8, 1841. Here she grew to womanhood and July 12, 1863, she was united in marriage to S. S. Snyder, who died a number of years ago. To them were born six children, three of who survive her, Mrs. Mary Brown, of Wapello; Fred W. Snyder, of Muscatine and James H. Snyder of Fredonia. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was a member of the O. E. S. and in early life took an active part in the social life of the community. She was chaplain of the Ladies G. A. R. Circle at Marshalltown. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter of Letts. Mrs. Snyder was converted at the age of 18 and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Fredonia. The body was brought to Fredonia where funerals services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks. Interment was made in the Indian Creek cemetery.
