The death of Harry Treadway, Saturday afternoon at 12:30 following less than a week's illness, cast a gloom of sadness over the hearts of his many friends on Columbus Junction. The previous Saturday he had been active in his duties at Hall & Co's store and was enjoying his usual health. Sunday afternoon he suffered with a strangulated hernia. Medical aid was promptly summoned, an operation was performed. Despite the best medical attendance he did not improve and Friday a second operation was performed.

Harry Mann Treadway was born at Raysville, Indiana, April 8, 1853. His parents were Amos K. and Mary E. Treadway. He was married in 1888 to Miss Mary Shaum, who with two sisters, Mrs. Olive Wilson and Mrs. Frances Evans, of Chicago, survive. One brother and his parents preceded him in death. He came with his parents to Columbus City in 1879 and later lived in Chicago where for many years he was competent employee of John V. Farwell Co. Nine years ago he returned to Columbus Junction and for the past seven years he has been employed by Hall & Co. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church at Columbus City conducted by Rev. J. Fred Stilwell. Interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
