William S. Foreman was born in Harrisburg, Penn., June 20th 1831 and died August 27th, 1916, aged 85 years, 2 months and 7 days. In 1854 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Pratt of the same state. Five children were born to this union, John, Alice, Jennie, Laura and William. His wife and three children preceded him in death. The two remaining are Alice, who remained in the home and Jennie Willy of Gruver, Iowa.

In 1855 he came to Iowa and resided there until 1907 when he took up his residence in Valley Springs, South Dakota. He united with the M. E. church thirty years ago. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church at Columbus City, August 30, a 2 p. m. Rev. R. J. Allred of the U. B. church officiating. Interment at the Camp Ground cemetery.
