James Dennis passes away suddenly at his home west of town Sunday morning at ten o'clock, July 16, 1916. Mr. Dennis had gone out into the yard with a newspaper to read and nothing was heard until Mrs. Dennis became alarmed at the continued barking of the dog. She went out into the yard where she found her husband breathing hard and almost unconscious. He attempted to speak but passed suddenly away. Mr. Dennis was born in this vicinity and lived here and in Nebraska. He is survived by his wife and two brothers and four sisters. The brothers are: William, of Columbus Junction, John, of Litchfield, Nebraska. The sisters are: Mrs. Lizzie Eshelman, of Muscatine, Mrs. Will Hahn, of North Dakota, Mrs. Lacy Hadden, of Wilbur, Washington and Mrs. Billstaff, of Bassett, Nebraska.
