Charles Hardman, pioneer resident of Muscatine county, who has made Grandview his home for the last many years, passed away in an easy manner early Monday morning as he laid on a couch in the dining room of his home reading a book. He was found by his wife a short time after death occured. Apoplexy was attributed as the cause. Mr. Hardman had been up and about Sunday and while not in the best of health, was apparently as well as usual. He did not retire at his usual hour Sunday night, being interested in a book which he wished to finish. No unusual noises indicating a death struggle were heard by members of the household during the night. The deceased was 76 years old, having been born March 27, 1839. Surviving are his wife and three children, Mrs. D. L. Woodruff of Minneapolis, Minn; Mrs. W. Kohne and Charles Hardman of the Muscatine Island. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the M. E. church in Grandview, the Rev. H. W. Cannon officiating. Burial was made in the Grandview cemetery.
