Mrs. Sarah Barnard Jones, a well known resident of Louisa county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Summerville, in Union township, Friday morning, January 28, 1916, after a very brief illness. Mrs. Jones has been an invalid for the past three years but had been enjoying her usual health up until a few hours before he death. Sarah Barnard was born in Washington county, Indiana, January 18, 1835. In 1854 she was married to Hugh Jones and soon after they came to Iowa locating near Wilton. Later they moved to this county coming here about twenty-five years ago. Her husband proceded her in death in 1905. She was a devoted member of the Reformed church having united with the church at St. Paul many years ago.

She is survived by eight children, nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Flack, died a number of years ago. The surviving are: Mrs. L. Brown, and Mrs. John Summerville, of Union township, H. E. Jones of the Old Clifton township, Price Jones, of Mt. Pleasant; H.M. Jones, of Idaho Springs, Colorado; Mrs. S. A. McCracken, of Oskaloosa; L. H. Jones, of Craig, Colorado; and Mrs. Thomas Smith, of Hayfield, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two thirty o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Summerville, conducted by Rev. T. M. Balcoff. Interment in the Boston cemetery.
