Henry Diller, a veteran of the Civil war and a well known resident of Columbus City and Fredonia, for the past twenty-six years died Tuesday morning, January 11, 1916, at his home in Columbus City. Henry Diller was born in Ohio, September 7, 1844, and came to Louisa county in 1855. Here he was married to Miss Lovina D. Westlake about 50 years ago. At the time of the great civil war Mr. Diller enlisted for the service of his country in Co. H. of the 45th Iowa Infantry. Several years after the war he moved with his family to Kansas living there twelve years and returning again to this county 26 years ago which he has made his home ever since.

On the 26th of January 1890 Mrs. Diller was summoned to the Great Beyond and several years later he was married to Mrs. Line Allen, who survives with eight children to mourn his death. The surviving children of his first marriage are: Mrs. Ora Wilton, of Salena, Kansas; W. E. Diller, Lena Diller and Alonzo Diller, of Fredonia; Marcus S., of Letts and Mrs. Sadie Trimble, of Muscatine, three children of his marriage preceded the father in death. Of the second marriage the wife and two children, Susie and Mary, survive. Mr. Diller was a member of the Church of God having joined the church at Pleasant Grove many years.
