Mrs. Sarah Thompson, an aged lady, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Riley Armstrong, Saturday night, October 31, 1915, at Wapello, Iowa, after a lingering illness of several months duration, following a fall which she sustained early in the summer. Sarah Sayre was born in Ohio, September 15, 1827 and passed away October 31, 1915. She was united in marriage to George Thompson July 2, 1846. To this union were born nine children, six daughters and three son, one son dying in infancy. She was a life long member of the Methodist church until moving to Wapello, transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church to be with her daughter and husband in their church home. Short funeral services were held at the Armstrong home Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. A. Coventry of the Presbyterian church. On Monday morning the remains were accompanied by members of the family to Keota, where services were held at the home of Mrs. Dayton and interment made in the Keota cemetery.
