George W. Orr, a veteran of the Civil war and a long time resident of Louisa county, died at his home near this city Friday morning, June 18, 1915. He has been ill for several months and gradually grew weaker until summoned by the death messenger. Mr. Orr was very well known in this city and this part of the county. He had lived for the past twenty-four years on the same farm and was an active and industrious man. He was born in Des Moines county 69 years ago and came to Louisa county in March 1891. He was married to Miss Catherine Hines, November 11, 1901. He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Carrie Ulm and Mrs ? Miller, of this city.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church at Columbus City and was conducted by Elder B. L. Nay, of Waterloo. The pallbearers were six nephews, James Bishop, Wm. Orr, Samuel Orr, Wm Ping, Lige Orr and Stephen Sams. Mr. Orr was the youngest in a family of eleven children. He is survived in addition to his two daughters by one brother, Martin Orr, of Murray, Iowa, who was ill and was unable to attend the funeral. A coincidence in the life of Mr. Orr was the fact that he was the youngest child in a family of eleven children, and although all of them lived to be older than he did only one of them is surviving at this time. Interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
