Harlan D. Letts was the only son of James H. and Matilda Hendricks Letts. He was born on Linn Grove Farm, in Concord township, Louisa county, Iowa, December 2, 1891. He attended the rural schools near his home and later attended Cornell college at Mt. Vernon. He then went to the University of Wisconsin where he graduated from the agricultural department with honors. He was also one of the leaders in the life of college and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Recently he had been given complete control of the Letts farm by his father and was making a gratifying success in looking after the various interest of the large farm under his control. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Letts and by two sisters, Mrs. E.C. Turkington, of Loveland, Colorado and Miss Adelis, at home. Funeral services were held at his home three and one-half miles south of Letts, Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. David Phillips, pastor of the Methodist episcopal church at Letts. Interment was made in the Letts cemetery.
