Mrs. Mary Morgan, the daughter of Elizabeth and Evan Anwyl was born in Penrhomawr, near Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire, North Wales, December 11, 1846. The family emigrated to the United States of America in 1852 and stayed one year in New York state. They moved to Iowa in 1858 and settled on a farm near Long Creek, Louisa county. Mrs. Morgan was married in 1867 to Evan Morgan who preceded her in death 22 years ago. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Morgan all of whom are now living. They are Annie, Alfred, Edward and May. She is also survived by one brother, Thomas Anwyl and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Jones of Washington, Iowa. The other brother and sister, William and Ann died many years ago.

Mrs. Morgan lived on the farm where she departed this life 48 years. Her health had been failing for more than four years but her serious illness began last December. After a long illness she died in the faith of Jesus at her home Monday, May 17th, age 68 years, 5 months and 6 days. Mrs. Morgan accepted Jesus as her Lord an Master early in life. She had been a devoted member of the Zion Welsh Congregational church since about 13 years of age. Mrs. Morgan was not merely a church member in name but a christian in word and truth worthy of the Savior. The funeral services were held at the home and at Zion Congregational church Wednesday, May 19th and were in charge of Rev. R. T. Richards, of Cotter, Iowa, assisted by Rev. J. T. Jones, of Salem church. Interment was in the Cambrian cemetery.
