Walter Verian Mulligan was born in Ohio, November 7, 1858 and departed this life April 17, 1915, aged 56 years, 5 months and 10 days. Early in life he came with his family to Illinois and made his home at Quincy. For more than 34 years he has made his home near Cone. On October 26, 1882 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Barthlow. There were eleven children born to them, eight girls and three boys. All of these except two recorded the father in death. About four weeks ago Brother Mulligan made a definite consecration of his life to Jesus Christ as his Savior. While Mr. Mulligan never a wicked man as man rates wickedness, yet he had not brought himself to the place of self surrender. There remains to mourn his death his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Christ and Miss Callie, six grandchildren and one adopted son, Oliver Manley and many friends who will remember his kindly. Funeral from the Reformed church at 10 o'clock Monday morning conducted by Rev. C. E. Ewing. Mr. Mulligan was a charter member of the M. B. A. and the lodge attended in a body.
