Alfred E. Baldridge, a pioneer resident of Louisa county, passed away at his home at Wapello Thursday evening after a very brief illness. Mr. Balridge was born in Sterlinghaust, Westmoreland county, Penna., April 25, 1838. In 1858 he removed with his father to Louisa county and has made his residence in this county except during the years of '62-64 when he served in the Union army. He was a member of the Nineteenth Iowa Infantry. He was married to Miss Eva Siverly, of Morning Sun, August 21, 1878. To them were born six children, four of whom survive. They are: Miss Marie Baldridge, a teacher in the public schools of Des Moines, Alfred, of Des Moines, Frank, of Wapello and Blanche, wife of Delbert Smith of Nichols. Mr. Baldridge was one of the prominent democrats. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church at Wapello, of which the deceased was a member, and were conducted by the Wapello Masonic order. The members of the G. A. R. post also attended in a body.
