Mrs. Thomas Carey died Friday morning at her home in Concord township after a very brief illness although she has not enjoyed good health for several years. Emma Edmondson was born in Louisa county, Iowa, December 27, 1872 and died at her home in Concord township, September 10, 1914, at the age of 41 years, 8 months and 13 days. She has been a resident of Louisa county her entire life with the exception of 2 years which were spend at Winfield. She was a faithful companion and a kind and loving mother to her children always doing her work faithfully and with out a murmur which God had given her to do.

She leaves to mourn her departure the companion of her youth, three sons and one daughter. They are: Robert, of new Boston, Ill., Edna, now Mrs. J. E. Bell, of Columbus Junction and Clyde and Elwyn at home. She is also survived by six little grandchildren and one sister and two brothers and a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted at the Pleasant Grove Bethel church Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. C. L. Wilson of Columbus City. The remains were laid to rest in the Indian Creek cemetery. Her marriage to Thomas Carey of Wapello was solemnized July 4, 1888. Her sister is Mrs. Cord McDaniel of Concord and her two brothers are M. R. and G. W. Edmondson. The grandchildren are, Irene, Thomas, Rex, Royce and Ketchel Carey and Evelyn Bell.
