The death messenger summoned Mrs. F. M. Colon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Madison Klotz on yesterday afternoon, July 22, 1914, at five o'clock. Mrs. Colton has been ill for some time but only during the past few weeks did her health begin falling so as to alarm her friends. The best medical skill of Chicago and Des Moines physician was wrought in her behalf to no avail. In infancy Mamie Klotz came with her parents to Columbus Junction, where she attended the high school and graduated at a very early age of sixteen. She entered St. Catherine Hall at Davenport for advanced study. She remained there for a year when she entered Drake University for special instruction in music where she developed talent of exceptional character. On August 30, 1893, she was united in marriage to Fred M. Colton with whom she lived most happily until his untimely death on the 21st day of March, 1910.

They made their home in Columbus Junction until 1907 when they moved to Koehler, New Mexico. They then returned to Washington, Iowa, in 1909, where Mr. Colton was engaged in work that occupied most of his time in traveling and which finally resulted in his death in the railroad wreak at Green Mountain, Iowa. After her husband's death, Mrs. Colton and her daughter, Greta, moved to Des Moines where she made her home until the past few weeks, when she came to live with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Klotz. She died Wednesday, July 22rd, at 4:30 o'clock, leaving a daughter, Greta, her father and mother, five sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held at the home of her parents Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Hakel, rector of the Episcopal church of Muscatine. Interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
