Chauncey W. Lewis, a well known resident of Muscatine county, succumbed at the home of his stepson, A. E. Conklin, 511 East Street Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The cause of his demise is attributed to old age and a stroke of paralysis which he suffered about a year ago. Since then he had been at invalid. Mr. Lewis was born in Izora, Canada, November 1, 1827. He removed to Muscatine county in 1870. Ten years prior to that he was united in marriage with Miss Caroline Thornton, who preceded him in death. To this union were born three children, Richard, Esther and Charles. He was married to Mrs. Mary Conklin in 1880. The funeral was held Monday in Letts. Interment was at the Cedar Bethel Cemetery.
