Charles Cutkomp was born in Germany, May 11, 1835. He came to America with his parents when a boy and was among the oldest settlers of this county. He was married to Amanda Stoddard in 1861. There were born to this union seven children, five of whom with their mother, preceded him in death. Two are still living, Benjamin of Columbus City and Clarence of Cody, Neb. He was married again to Miss Martha Morgan, December 16, 1873. There were born to this union two sons, William of Columbus City and Fred of Wapello. He died at Columbus City, February 17, 1914. He was 78 years, 9 months and 6 days old. Deceased was converted in early life and united with the United Brethren church. In addition to the sons mentioned above he is survived by a number of grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the United Brethren church at Columbus City, Saturday, February 21st, conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. H. Smith. Interment was made in the Bretz cemetery.
