Ezekiel Roberts was born in New Hampshire, April 18, 1843, died Dec. 21, 1913, at his home near Lone Tree, aged 70 yeas, 8 months and 3 days. In 1850 he came to Iowa settling in Union township, Louisa county and later in Johnson county. In 1861 when the government was in need of stronghearted brave men to suppress the great Rebellion, Mr. Roberts offered his service. He volunteered, joined Co. E., 2nd Iowa cavalry, serving three years and three months with honor to himself and country. The funeral was held at the Swank church on December 23, conducted by Rev. Cogshell of the M. E. church of Lone Tree. His body was laid to rest in the Swank cemetery to await the resurrection morn. He leaves a sister in Adair, Ia., a half brother, Moses Roberts in Winfield and a half brother in Newberryport, Mass.
