Morning Sun, July 22 - The funeral services of Lettie Smith were held at the home on Monday, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Wm Younger, assisted by Reverends Zimmerman and Trumbull. Here was a lone woman who had been a friend to nearly every one in town, taking care of the sick and those that were in trouble, with a strong but tender hand. Her life was spent for others and in her time of sickness and suffering she had the same good care; kind word and loving deeds. One sad thing about it was there wasn't one of her blood relation at her funeral. Her nephew, David Kirkpatrick, was sick. She was taken to Wapello and laid to rest by her son who died years ago.
