Henry Simmons dead. At his home in Union township, Sunday night, July 14, 1907, occurred the death of Henry Simmons, long a resident of that township. Mr. Simmons was born in Huntington, West Va., December 23, 1840. He was consequently, well on in his sixty-seventh year at the time of his death.
On January 17, 1868, he was married to Miss Mary Pine. Together they came to Iowa in 1873, settling in Union township where he lived until his death. To them were born nine children, eight of them with the wife surviving. These children are Albert, who is married and living in Huntington, Alvin, Fred and Harry and Mmes, Nora Davis and Toka Armbright and Walter and Bessie, at home.

Mr. Simmons was loyal to his country during the civil war and fought for the Union in the fifth West Virginia regiment. Besides his immediate family he leaves two brothers, Nat and Dick, and a sister, Mrs. Lucinda Thompson, still residents of West Virginia. The funeral services occurred at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Elm church, near the old home and were conducted by Rev. Wilson of Columbus City. Interment followed in the Boston cemetery. He had been a sufferer for years with tuberculosis. During the last year or more he has been considered in critical condition.
