John Hines, an old resident of Oakland township, died at the home of his daughter, Mr. Blanche McComas, In Lone Tree, Tuesday. He was born in Ireland early in the 20's and came to America when seventeen years of age, first settling in Massachusetts. During the great gold excitement in California he spent four years there. He then settled in Oakland township and he made that vicinity his home ever since. He has been in feeble health a number of years and his death was no surprise to his friends. He leaves his wife and several children to mourn his departure. The latter are Mrs. Blanche McComas, of Lone Tree, Mmes Julia McCollister, Agnes Morse, Lizzie Kennedy and Kate Hoben, Miss Nellie and Willie J., all of Oakland township. The funeral occurred at the Catholic church, Lone Tree, at 10 o'clock today, burial in the Catholic cemetery, west of Nichols, following.
