Henry Leonhard dead. - We are called upon again this week to announce the death of one of our best citizens who died at his home near Old Clifton, February 21, 1907. Henry Leonhard was born in Baden, Germany July 17, 1838. He came with his parents to America when six years of age. They first settled in Rock Island county, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. In 1862 he was united in marriage to Miss Maria C. Hauck. They came to Iowa in 1867, and this and Muscatine county have continued the home of the family ever since.

Of the ten children of this union eight survive their father. These are: Henry, of Sweetland, who has a family; Mary, unmarried, connected with the Soldiers' Orphans Home, Davenport; Mrs. Maggie Fisher, of Muscatine; Mrs. Emma Hocke, of Muscatine; Eva, unmarried and at home; Louise, a teacher and also at home; and J. T., who are also with the mother. Mrs. Lizzie Larber, another daughter, died at Muscatine three years ago, leaving a family. A young son died in Muscatine many years ago. Mr. Leonhard united with the German Congregational church in 1854, but after living here a few years and there being no society of that organization within reach, he united with the Methodist church and died in their faith. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, this place, Sunday at 2 o'clock p. m. conducted by Rev. R. D. Pool. Interment followed in Columbus City cemetery.
