Mrs. Matilda Gore-Allen died at her home in Wapello, Tuesday, June 5, at 2:30 p. m. She was buried in the Columbus City cemetery today, June 7, at 10 o'clock. She was born in Maryland Dec. 20, 1834. Came to Iowa when quite young with her parents and this was her home for a great many years. She was married to Capt. W. G. Allen who died in 1895. Of the six children born to them, three are living; W. E., of Omaha; H. G., of Wapello and Mrs. Alethea Woodard, of Burlington. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Lydia Franklin. She had been sick for five months and her death was not unexpected. She has many friends at Wapello and around Columbus City who will mourn her departure.
