Mrs. Rebecca Murray, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. H. Widener, of Independence, Iowa, Saturday evening, April 7. A short and very appropriate service was held at the home on Sabbath afternoon, conducted by Rev. McGeorge of the Baptist church. On Monday the remains were taken to Wapello and from thence to Cairo, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Widener, Henry Murray of Cairo and Mrs. Dr. Smyth of Morning Sun. Funeral services were held at the Bethel Church, conducted by Rev. Wilson of Columbus City. Burial was at Cairo cemetery. Mrs. Murray, whose maiden name was Rebecca Lininger, was born in Cumberland county, Penn., in 1819 and was eighty-seven years, seven months and seven days of age when she died. In 1838 she was married to Elder Henry Murray and together they came to Iowa in 1855, settling near Cairo and this was their home during their lives. Ten children were born to them. Five with the father preceded her to that better land. The living are: L. L., Henry, Mrs. Anna Vanhorn of Cairo; Mrs. C. H. Widener, of Independence and Rev. J. O. Murray, of Los Angeles, Calif; who are left to mourn the loss of a dear and loving mother.
